Cool shades

Isla is ready for summer in her sunglasses! Oops...I guess it is almost September. It's funny because we really only had a few weeks of good weather this summer. Everyone said I would be so lucky to have my maternity leave in June but it rained almost everday day!

Bathing beauty

Isn't Isla cute in her hooded towel?
We also set up the high chair. Not that she will be eating anything but milk anytime soon... but it's fun to put her in it so she can sit at the table with mom and dad!

One of the girls!

Isla had a great time this weekend celebrating with her auntie Laura! All of the bridesmaids (and the mini-flower girl) were together for her bachelorette party at York Beach. We enjoyed our beautiful suite overlooking the beach. The sun felt so good! Isla had fun playing with the girls and dressing up in her tutu onesie!

3 year anniversary

Last night Mark and I celebrated our three year anniversary! I surprised him by having one of my friends come over to babysit Isla. It was my first night away from her electively (I was also away the night of call.) I took him out to eat at this new greek restaurant in Portland. It was so good. We had a wonderful time. When we got back he gave me his gift which was a framed picture of us that we had taken on Gooch's beach in Kennebunk. So precious!
Isla had a good time with Katie. She slept and then Katie pushed her in the swing.
Speaking of the swing... After only 10 weeks it broke and this was a major deal because it is a really easy way to get her to sleep during the day. So of course it made Holly a little upset too! So I called Graco and the replacement part was on back-order for 4 weeks! I said in a distressed voice, "That swing is the only way my daughter will sleep during the day!!" So they sent a different color motor which arrived today! So the swing is back in motion even though it doesn't match. The matching part will arrive in three weeks. So these are the dramatic events that go on when you have an infant!
Good news on the nanny front...I hired a nanny to start in September when Holly leaves for college. We are going to miss Holly so much but this new nanny will be a good replacement. Her name is Erica and she is 28. She has worked at a couple of day-care centers and has nannied for a couple of different families. She says that babies are her favorite! I am really looking forward to having her take care of Isla. She has her degree in pre-elementary education so basically a degree in raising babies! She actually taught me a couple of things during the interview. She wants to take Isla to an infant play group in Portland as well as to the Children's museum. I guess they have a part just for infants! Who knew?!!
Not looking forward to this weekend... on call Saturday. I miss her so much already!

Going to see auntie!

I had this past weekend off again which was so nice! On Saturday we took Isla out in the Old Port and had some apps on the Dogfish Cafe's outdoor patio. Then on Sunday Isla and I took a drive to Portsmouth to visit auntie Laura. I helped her stuff wedding invites while Isla took a nap. It was so good to see her!

10 weeks

Isla is 10 weeks old today! We survived my first 30 hour shift. Mark brought her to see me twice which made it a lot easier. Around ten pm he brought her in her PJs and I was able to feed her in the car and then hold her until she fell asleep. It was so hard to say goodbye after that! But it was a crazy, busy night so at least the time went fast!

She is such a cutie pie! We are having so much fun watching her grow and learn new things. She is eating and growing!

9 weeks old

Here is a new video of Isla in a cute outfit given to her by Dawne Miller (our nanny's mother.) In the video she shows off some of her new talents like smiling, raising her arm and cooing!!

Congrats today to my friend Laura who had a baby girl, Alice Ann!! One of Isla's future play- mates!
